The perfect way to start your day – Rise and Flow with Rachael. Whether you wake up raring to go or will have to drag yourself out of the house and not talk to anyone until after class. This is for both of you!

A yoga flow to get you moving, breathing, feeling, smiling. All levels welcome. Classes have an upbeat feel while also providing a chance to relax and unwind in chilled yin and restorative poses to finish. Creating the perfect yoga practice wrapped up into one session – taking the vibes up then settling them back down to finish floating on a cloud, ready to tackle the day ahead.

About Rachael:

Rachael has been practising yoga for over 20 years, completing her 200-hour teacher training with Yoga Haven in 2018, followed by certificates in Pregnancy, Post-Natal, Mum and Baby and Children’s yoga. She currently teaches at Hotpod Yoga Eastbourne, community classes at Udimore St Mary’s Hall and St Leonards Studio, as well as online, group and private one-to-one classes.

Rachael loves teaching Vinyasa Flow, with classes having an upbeat feel while also providing a chance to relax and unwind in chilled yin and restorative classes. Her favourite being a mix of the two, creating the perfect yoga experience wrapped up into one session – taking the vibes up then settling them back down to finish floating on a cloud.

All abilities are very welcome, especially newcomers to yoga. She wants to get people moving, to make time for themselves, and to learn to take a deep breath and step back from the day-to-day routine of everyday life.

Rachael believes that regular exercise and creating space both physically and mentally is key to keeping a positive outlook on life. Having her own invisible illness MS, she understands that everyone has their own personal struggles and their own reason for trying yoga.

Rachael welcomes anyone to give it a go and is happy to chat about individual needs or provide modifications – even if your first class is just lying on your mat!

Hatha Yoga with Louise

August 31, 2020

Hatha Yoga with Louise

I am continuing to offer weekly sessions based on Hatha yoga influenced by the practice of Vanda Scaravelli. Practice is gentle and supportive and focuses on using the breath and gravity to lengthen and free the spine.

The sessions are suitable for all as I encourage everyone to practice at their own pace by working mindfully and listening to what their body is saying.

I have the British Wheel of Yoga teachers’ qualification and I travelled to Kerala in India to gain a further teachers’ qualification. I have continued my training whilst teaching and followed my interest in teaching on a one to one basis in a therapeutic way. I recently attended Gary Carter’s sessions on understanding fascia and movement.

About the yoga classes:

 – come along and benefit from a yoga session including  asana (poses), pranayama (controlled breathing) and relaxation.

You will need to bring a yoga mat and equipment such as blanket and belt. If this isn’t possible I can provide these if you let me know. Also be sure to wear comfortable layered clothes so that you can move easily and keep at the right temperature.

You can contact me at Louise@stleonards.studio

I am interested in talking to students about their individual needs and expectations.

The fees for classes are as follows- Drop in £8.00

If 4 classes are paid in advance then each will cost £6.00.

(It is not a requirement to attend consecutive classes).

Payment can be by cash or

Garuda / Pilates

October 28, 2019

GARUDA CLASS

Wednesdays  9am – 10am

Garuda encompasses the principles of Pilates, the breathwork and Asana practices of Yoga and the grace of dance and Tai Chi, bringing about a sense of ease and well-being.

Garuda is a fluid, hybrid method of movement, inspiring an intuitive way to exercise the body. It has all the benefits of a cardiovascular workout while stretching the mind and the body. Garuda is a test of mental and physical strength, asking for focus and concentration during the exercises.

You’ll learn how to control your body through precise stretches and actions, placing an emphasis on smooth, seamless movements without any stress on the joints. Through carefully choreographed routines, you’ll soon develop greater poise and control, and a leaner, more resilient body and a calm state of mind.

At the end of the class, you’ll feel amazing!

Alive, energised, relaxed, stretched and centred!

About Sally Paffard

I started learning Pilates with Hana Jones way back in the late 1980s and then completed a 2 year Comprehensive Equipment and Matwork course with the Pilates Foundation 2003. One of the teachers on this course was James d’Silva who went on to develop his Garuda method.

When James started his Garuda Teacher Training programme in 2011 I signed up immediately and have been attending his teacher training courses and workshops ever since, gradually incorporating Garuda into my Pilates teaching and practice.

My love of Garuda has inspired me to study Fascia in Movement with Anna Barrecheguren (Brighton Pilates Studio), which has deepened my appreciation of how and why Garuda is so effective.
