I’m Kate, and I am an experienced qualified paramedic and yoga teacher. In my work as a clinician I have noticed that long term drug therapy often fails to address the root of a person’s disease, only treating symptoms as they arise. This ‘fire-fighting’ approach can lead to multiple pharmaceutical drugs being prescribed to a patient, including those to alleviate the side effects of the other drugs!

As a yoga teacher, I have seen how movement, emotional support and a positive mental attitude can benefit a person’s well being.

Yoga is not about looking good or being flexible!

I specialise in working with bodies suffering illness or injury. This can help you work within your abilities and aid recovery. My aim is to help you feel stronger and more capable, enabling you to meet life’s challenges with an open heart.

I often include breath work and a short meditation in my yoga classes.

“I want to help you develop a comfortable body, a peaceful mind and a full heart.

I have seen the transformation that yoga can help bring about. Learn to trust your body and to love yourself.

Together we can find the right practice for your body’s unique story.”

Qigong with Andrea

August 31, 2020

Tuesdays 9am -10am

Qi Gong is a system of body and mind cultivation developed in China, with roots going back thousands of years. It uses accessible sequences of simple movements to explore and refine principles of posture, movement, breathing and awareness. As a regular practice it helps improve health, fitness and inner balance.

These classes focus on the foundation of the practice, including ground rules of structure and movement. We work with three sequences of short exercises through which these principles can be applied and practised: Ji Ben Qi Gong (Qi Gong Foundations), Wu Xing Qi Gong (Five Elements Qi Gong) and Wu Dao Yins (Clearing Exercises).

Accessible to all, the classes do not require any particular level of strength, flexibility or prior knowledge. Feel free to drop-in, or get in touch for more details.

Andrea is a dedicated practitioner of Qi Gong, Tai Ji and Daoist Meditation, with over 25 years’ experience in bodymind practices. He is an affiliated Lotus Nei Gong instructor and continues developing his practice with internationally established teacher Damo Mitchell. Andrea is also a teacher of the Alexander Technique and a Shiatsu practitioner.

£7.50 per class (or £30 for 5 classes) Concessions available – please get in touch.

This is a class that anyone can join from beginners to those who want to deepen their practice. Vanda Scaravelli inspired an approach to Yoga that encourages you to ‘undo the doing’, to relax and move ‘without the slightest effort’.

In this class we pay attention to the breath, the spine and flow of energy in the body. We focus on Yoga as self-discovery and enquiry – as Scaravelli writes:

‘ To question authority is the mark of a good mind, unafraid to explore. Is it possible to have a different attitude in which a new intelligence, not imposed by others, but born out of curiosity, attention and sensitivity will emerge? In which body and mind, focused in one single action, collaborate together? It is just this revolutionary attitude that we are going to discover through a new disciple in the practice of yoga’
